Dalvie Systems fitted out an empty West Midlands warehouse for a power transmission manufacturer with pallet racking, shelving levels for hand-picked stock, anti-collapse mesh, end-of-aisle barriers and safety signage. When the customer changed the brief on day one, the design team produced an amended layout that was approved the same day, and installation carried on without delay.
Wolverhampton-based storage equipment specialist Dalvie Systems has completed a full pallet racking installation for a power transmission manufacturer in the West Midlands. The project turned an empty warehouse into an organised, efficient and safety-focused working environment, and it stayed on track even when the design changed on the first day of installation.
The customer manufactures power transmission components for a wide range of industrial applications. With its storage and operational needs continuing to develop, the business needed a practical storage solution built around the demands of a busy warehouse.
The brief was to fit out an empty warehouse with a sizeable pallet racking system, incorporating shelving levels to give staff easy access to hand-picked inventory.
Alongside the main storage system, Dalvie Systems supplied and installed a range of warehouse safety measures:
The aim was to make better use of the available warehouse space while creating a more organised and safer place to work for the customer’s employees.
One of the key challenges arrived on the first day of installation, when the customer asked for changes to parts of the original design.
On many projects, a late change like this would mean delays and disruption. Instead, the Dalvie Systems team responded straight away, working closely with the customer to understand the revised requirements and agree a practical way forward, so the installation team could carry on without unnecessary disruption.
Dalvie Systems’ experienced design team quickly produced an amended design for the customer’s approval. The customer approved it the same day, and the installation team continued work.
Being able to adapt the design mid-installation shows why it matters to have design and installation teams who work closely together. When the people drawing the layout and the people building it talk to each other, a change of plan becomes a same-day decision rather than a stalled project.
The finished solution was a pallet racking and shelving system tailored to the customer’s revised requirements, supported by additional safety measures throughout the warehouse.
Mark Cummings, Sales Director at Dalvie Systems, said:
“Every warehouse has different requirements, and this project is a great example of how a well-designed pallet racking and shelving system can transform an empty warehouse into a busy, efficient and organised working environment.
The customer’s requirements changed during installation, but our experienced team was able to respond quickly, amend the design and keep the project moving. We were delighted with the finished result.”
The completed installation gave the customer a practical combination of racking and shelving, designed to suit the robust operational requirements of the warehouse.
Adding safety measures alongside the storage systems helped establish a more structured working environment, while making better use of the available floor and storage space.
The project also showed the value of a flexible approach throughout. From initial planning and pallet racking design through to installation and on-site adjustments, the solution was adapted wherever needed to reflect the customer’s needs, so the finished installation works smoothly within the warehouse.
“Dalvie Systems understood our requirements from the start and provided a storage solution that works well for our warehouse and day-to-day operations.
The installation of pallet racking and shelving has helped us make better use of the available space and create a more organised working environment. The team were professional and flexible throughout the installation, and we are very pleased with the finished result.”
